Sylvia Ruth Foundation

SRF seeks to end generational poverty and disenfranchisement of African American children through education and scholarship that spans the continuum of their childhood.

It is easier to build to build strong children than it is to repair broken men ~ Frederick Douglas

SRF Impact

The Sylvia Ruth Foundation has made a significant impact on literacy in Washington, DC schools by establishing classroom libraries. These libraries serve eight 1st grade classrooms and benefit over 200 students, promoting a love for reading and learning.

We have established college savings plans for three infants and two first-grade students.

1st Grade Classroom Libraries

By building 1st grade classroom libraries we hope to foster a love of reading in young children and provide teachers with resources to support the development of literate learners.

Scholarship

By providing scholarship to students at Howard University we hope to support the growth of young scholars as they seek to complete their collegiate goals.

College Savings Plans

By investing in students early we strive to open up pathways to education for all students by starting college savings plans for 1st grade students.
